WPM stands for Words Per Minute. Our WPM test tracks exactly how many words you can type correctly in one minute. Itβs a great way to measure your progress!
The best way to improve typing speed is daily practice. We recommend starting with our online typing test to check your current speed, and then playing our arcade typing games every day to get faster.
Yes! Games like our falling words typing game and asteroid defense force you to focus on the right keys, which naturally improves your typing accuracy over time.
Typing industry standards define a standard word as exactly 5 keystrokes (including letters, spaces, and punctuation). Your live WPM is calculated as
(Characters Typed / 5) / (Elapsed Minutes). Accuracy represents (Correct Characters / Total Keystrokes) * 100%.
Words drop from orbit toward your neon shield line. Typing the initial letter locks onto the word, and typing remaining letters vaporizes it. You start with 3 shields (lives). If a word hits the bottom barrier, you lose a shield. Losing all 3 shields ends the game.
You race side-by-side along an animated track against an autonomous AI competitor clocked at a steady 40 WPM pace. Typing accurately accelerates your racecar across the finish line to claim top spots on the local leaderboard.
In Falling Asteroids, asteroid size is directly proportional to word length:
- Short words (2-4 letters): Small, rapid meteors.
- Medium words (5-7 letters): Mid-sized balanced rocks.
- Long words (8+ letters): Giant, high-threat asteroids that award massive score multipliers upon destruction.
There are zero shields in Falling Asteroids. If any asteroid breaches your perimeter or collides with your ship, it results in instantaneous catastrophic hull destruction, screen shake, and Game Over.
